The Rail Cricket Club was established in 1977 and was originally called The Albion Park Rail Cricket Club, subsequently the name was changed to The Rail Cricket Club to avoid confusion with Albion Park Cricket Club. At the time Albion Park Cricket Club was struggling to provide cricket for all of the children that wanted to play cricket because of the new sub division Green Meadows estate. There were many young families moving into the area. So, the Club was formed after splitting with Albion Park, there was a division of players so that both clubs had enough players to continue separately.
The junior club started in 1978. Our home ground was Albion Oval. All grades both juniors and seniors played there and still do today.
In the early 1980’s Croome Road Sporting complex was formed our 1st grade and 2nd grade moved to play on our very own turf wicket which was built and maintained by club members and is still maintained today by some of those same hardworking people.
The club’s aim from the very beginning was to foster junior cricket and is still our aim today.
We liked to be known as The Family Club where parents and children can play together in 4th grade. There have been several instances of 3 and 4 generations playing together.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during Training or on Game Day.
